UNITED WE STAND

Frequently Asked Questions
Q. What is the NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP SERIES (NCS)?
A. The NCS is a network of the best Fantasy Sports Players, Teams, and Leagues in the United States. Each team in the NCS is ranked weekly based on YTD performance. The top ranked teams at the end of the rankings period are invited to compete, free of charge, in the National Championship Tournament (NASCAR uses a “Chase” structure instead of a tournament). Think of the NCAA Basketball March Madness Tournament. The top teams will compete in a National Championship Tournament similar to the March Madness Tournament, until only 1 TRUE Fantasy Champion remains.

Q. Who can join the NCS?
A. ANYONE. Whether you are currently in a Private Fantasy League on FantasySportsUnion.com or if you’d like to join one of the free NCS sanctioned leagues, you can be a part of the NCS.

Q. I run a private league, can I register the whole league into the NCS?
A. YES. The National Championship Series already includes several private leagues. Since we value the integrity of the contest, the NCS Competition Committee MUST have access to monitor your league activities. This means that we will need to be able to access your league draft results, standings, schedules, and transactions at all times throughout the season. This allows us to monitor for any unfair practices or collusion. As the official sponsor of the NCS, all private leagues hosted on FantasySportsUnion.com are automatically registered into the NCS for free. No entry credits are required for teams from FantasySportsUnion.com.Some sites, like Yahoo, do not authorize "guest" access to the leagues so a Series Rep MUST be participating in the league in order for it to be entered into the National Rankings. To request to have your league entered into the NCS National Rankings, simply send an email to commish13@fsncs.com with your Commissioners Name, League Name, League URL. If we're able to access your league, it will be added to the National Rankings.

Q. I’m not currently in a league. How can I join the NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP SERIES (NCS)?
A. We post notifications of upcoming registrations for free leagues on our National Forums. Register for free on NationalChampionshipSeries.com and check the forums for notice of leagues registering for your sport.

Q. How are teams ranked in the NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP SERIES (NCS)?
A. The NCS Rating System uses a calculation formula based on a number of YTD Statistics for each team. Each team is rated individually against the other teams within their league and then again with all teams being rated in the National Rankings.

The exact formula used is exclusive to NationalChampionshipSeries.com and is guarded to protect its integrity within the fantasy sports industry. I can say that the formula has been thoroughly tested and proven to be extremely accurate in measuring a team/owners strength.

We all know that wins and losses do not always tell the whole story as far as how a team is performing. How many times have you been the 2nd best performing team in your league of 10 or 20 teams, only to lose that week because your opponent was the best? Other teams may have received a win for the week because their opponent didn’t do so well. They’re 1-0 and you’re 0-1 even though your team easily outperformed theirs. They may be ahead of you as far as winning percentage, but your team is stronger. Of course, if they keep winning and you keep losing, the different in winning % may become just too much to overcome.

By taking a number of factors into account, the NCS Rating paints a more accurate picture as to how strong a team is actually performing. The NCS Rating Formula includes, but is not limited to, the performance statistics below;

League Size Team Points (YTD Stats) League Points (YTD Stats) % of League Points credited to team Expected % of Team Points credited to team (In a 10 team league, a team can be expected to score 10% of the points. In a 20 team league, each team is expected to score 5% of the points and so on…) Average Points by all teams in league Strength adjustment (based on position within league) Winning % Difference from average winning % for each team within the league. Current winning/losing streak Strength of opponents Results vs common opponents

Q. As commissioner, will I be required to do any additional work to have the teams in my league ranked each week?
A. No. We have several series commissioners who will pull the YTD performance information (stats) for each team in each league will be compiled automatically each week. Once the information has been calculated for all teams, the rankings will be posted on NationalChampionshipSeries.com. You can simply run and play in your league as normal and we’ll take care of the rankings.

Q. What is the prize package value?
A. The prize package value begins at $500. The prize fund can increase depending on sponsorships, but it will never be less than $500.

Q. Is there any additional cost if a team from my league is invited to the tournament?
A. No. The tournament is free and by invitation only. Teams are invited to compete for free.

Q. What rules will be used for the tournament?
A. The rules will be posted on NationalChampionshipSeries.com shortly.
